What’s new on Disney+ Canada for kids and families in December 2020

New content is coming to Disney+! The streaming service from Disney has announced which new TV shows and movies will be added to its lineup next month, and of course that means more options for the whole family. There are quite a few titles to look forward to in December, including the new Pixar film, Soul, and a 90s classic holiday film, Jingle All the Way. Plus, the Arendelle Castle Yule Log is back for the holidays with all new decorations inspired by Frozen 2. Check out the full lineup with specific release dates below.

But first, an important note: The age recommendations offered below are approximate. Every kid is different, and you’re the best judge of what’s appropriate and what your kid can handle.

Soul

Best for: 6+
What is it that makes you…YOU? Joe Gardner (voice of Jamie Foxx) is a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before—a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. Diana: In her Own Words

Best for: 11+
In this documentary, the late Princess Diana narrates her life and the events that surrounded her. Available December 4

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul

Best for: 7+
A Heffley family road trip to attend Meemaw’s 90th birthday party goes hilariously off course thanks to Greg’s newest scheme to get to a video gaming convention. Available December 4

Epic

Best for: 5+
A teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil is taking place. She bands together with a rag-tag group of characters in order to save their world—and ours. Available December 4

Eragon

Best for: 8+
In his homeland of Alagaesia, a farm boy happens upon a dragon’s egg—a discovery that leads him on a predestined journey where he realizes he’s the one person who can defend his home against an evil king. Available December 4

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

Best for: 7+
A young girl is transported into a magical world of gingerbread soldiers and an army of mice in this remake of the classic Nutcracker story. Available December 4

We Bought A Zoo

Best for: 10+
Set in Southern California, a father moves his young family to the countryside to renovate and re-open a struggling zoo. Available December 4

Godmothered

Best for: 7+
Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Jillian Bell), who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers. Finding a mislaid letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks her down and discovers that the girl, Mackenzie, is now a 40-year-old single mom (Isla Fisher) working at a news station in Boston. Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie has all but given up on the idea of “happily ever after,” but Eleanor is bound and determined to give Mackenzie a happiness makeover, whether she likes it or not. The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian and the Child continue their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies as they make their way through a dangerous galaxy in the tumultuous era after the collapse of the Galactic Empire. New episodes available every Friday until December 18

Beyond the Clouds

Beyond the Clouds takes an exclusive look inside the production and inspiration behind the Disney+ original movie. The short form docuseries can be found under extras for Clouds. New episodes available every Friday in December

The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse

It’s nothing but fun and excitement for Mickey and his best pals—Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto—as they embark on their greatest adventures yet, navigating the curveballs of a wild and zany world where the magic of Disney makes the impossible possible. Ralph Breaks the Internet

Best for: 7+
Six years after the events of Wreck-It Ralph, Ralph and Vanellope discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure in the vast world of the internet. Available December 11

Safety

Best for: 9+
Safety is a drama inspired by the empowering story of former Clemson University football safety Ray McElrathbey (Jay Reeves), a young man facing a series of challenging circumstances, whose dedication and persistence help him to triumph over repeated adversities. Aided by his teammates and the Clemson community, he succeeds on the field while simultaneously raising and caring for his 11-year-old brother Fahmarr (Thaddeus J. Mixson). Available December 11

Jingle All The Way

Best for: 7+
Howard, a haggard salesman, promises his son a Turbo Man toy for Christmas. He is forced to fight every parent and travel all over town to get the toy after he forgets to buy it. Available December 18

Jingle All The Way 2

Best for: 7+
Larry wants to gift his daughter Noel a doll that she so dearly desires. He races against Noel’s stepfather to get the doll in order to come out as the better father. Available December 18

Miraculous World: New York, United Heroez

Best for: 6+
Set in the world of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, Marinette’s class is headed to New York, the city of superheroes, for French American Friendship Week, but the American superheroes may find themselves in need of help while there. Available December 18

On Pointe

Best for: 12+
This six-part docu-series captures a season in the School of American Ballet (SAB) in New York City by following the lives of the students ages 8 to 18 pursuing their dreams to become ballet dancers. While older students from all over the country rigorously train for professional careers, younger students from New York City are put through their paces as they rehearse and perform in New York City Ballet’s holiday classic “George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker” onstage at Lincoln Center. High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special

In this all-new holiday music special, the cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series delivers an abundance of feel-good holiday cheer. Arendelle Castle Yule Log

For your holiday celebrations, set the wintry mood with Anna and Elsa’s Arendelle Castle yule log. The castle is newly decorated this year with elements harkening back to Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven’s recent journey to the Enchanted Forest. Burrow

Best for: 5+
A young rabbit embarks on a journey to dig the burrow of her dreams, despite not having a clue what she’s doing.
