For some children managing emotions is difficult and they need self regulation strategies. Self regulation strategies include breathing exercises, moving or acting in a deliberate way, shifting their focus, meditation exercises, or engaging in games or activities. The goal is to find emotional regulation exercises that work for your child.

Self regulation means someone is able to to control their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. As children grow they learn how to regulation their own feelings and behavior. It’s natural for children to have ups and downs during the learning process. When a child can’t regulate their own emotions it leads to trouble at home and in school and can test relationships. While almost any child can benefit from emotional regulation activities, children that struggle with self regulation NEED these activities to help them have a better life and function in the home and at school.

Being able to see and monitor their results is helpful for a child to understand the things that sets them off and seeing the strategies that help bring their numbers.
